The following was a post I wrote for /r/writing over at Reddit. I figured I’d post it here for easy reference.
I should clarify– when you see “failed novelist” you probably assume that I wrote something that just didn’t sell well. Man, if only. I never made it that far. I started my first (only) novel for Nanowrimo in 2012. In the course of thirty days, I managed to write 52,000 words. At the time, that felt like a great achievement, but the celebration was tempered by the fact that I was only 1/3 of the way through the story I was trying to tell. With wrists full of carpal tunnel and a wife who I’d barely seen, I decided to take a break during December and begin again in January. Continue reading
